A Word From the MOG Cast Founder
When people learn I’m an atheist, their first question is usually, “Why?” They assume it must be because of some tragedy—abuse, loss, or alienation—because who would willingly risk eternal damnation?
The truth? I held onto faith far longer than you might think, keeping a tiny candle of hope burning until my 30s. But after years of waiting for God to show up, I realized that the answers I needed weren’t going to come from prayers. They came when I started taking control of my own healing.
Life got better when I sharpened my critical thinking, distanced myself from toxic people, and stopped looking for validation in the wrong places. That’s when I discovered humanism—a worldview that gave me tools to understand myself and others without needing divine permission.
Since then, I’ve written blogs, published books, and spent nearly two decades as a humanist and atheist activist, sharing my journey and connecting with others who’ve faced similar struggles. Along the way, I’ve met so many people trapped by biases and cognitive dissonance. I’ve seen families torn apart by the manipulations of government, media, and religion. These divides are exhausting, and they’re tearing us down as a society.
That’s why I started the MOG Cast—not to debate believers or turn atheists into armchair philosophers, but to explore the gray areas where our assumptions and blind spots thrive. My hope is to help listeners, regardless of belief, rediscover empathy, self-awareness, and accountability.
These conversations won’t be easy. Growth never is. But they’re worth it—for the peace, clarity, and understanding we can achieve together. Let’s dig into the gray zone and see what we can uncover.
